Learning Support Officer (Teacher's Aide)
CBC St Kilda is an all-boys Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition, with an enrolment of approximately 550 students. CBC is a small school with friendly staff and students, and is close to the city and public transport. Our Main Campus is in St Kilda East and our Year 9 Campus is a short distance away in Balaclava.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for a fixed term 1.0FTE contract position of Learning Support Officer (LSO), commencing on 6 May 2019 and concluding on 13 December 2019.
Preferred applicants will have a background in literacy and numeracy intervention. Applicants should also be skilled in working with boys and have the ability to support students who have a range of learning needs. This includes providing a variety of approaches to allow each student to reach their full academic potential. LSOs are required to liaise professionally with students, parents, teachers and other Learning Support Officers.
Competent use of ICT and a strong commitment to utilising learning technologies is essential.
The successful candidate will:
- have a demonstrated commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children;
- be able to provide care and support for students whilst respecting the ethos of the College;
- be an effective communicator;
- be a team player;
- have an awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the teacher and the classroom environment; and
- have a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
